Hello, my dear readers, I can finally announce that I have extracted all my wisdom teeth, yeah! Now I wanted to share my experience of extracting all these wisdom teeth.

Can believe that I have done all of them in my 31 years old. Also I have put on my braces too! You may want to see the update of my braces on my Instagram highlight storis, click here

Wisdom teeth are the teeth that appear at the very back of all your teeth. The area is upper (left and right) and lower (left and right). When it grow, you will feel some kind of itchiness. It may grow normal or vertical or 90 degree. The grow of wisdom teeth is totally random, even I cannot predict but only hope that it frow straight.

Yet, sometimes if your teeth are totally full, it may squeeze by hitting the front teeth. At that moment you will suffer from painful jaw feeling. Your teeth will easily bleed when you chew food or even drink water. Any movement around your teeth could potentially damage them.

Can you imagine when you have to extract it one-by-one? In 2006, there is no surgery that could extract all the 4 wisdom teeth in one go. Back in Indonesia, I can only go to a regular dentist to extract it. Nowadays, there is a dentist that specialize to perform any mouth and teeth surgery.

You can now extract all 4 teeth in one go. But, in Indonesia you still need to stay 1 night in Indonesia, and also the dentist will inject total anesthesia.

This is my own opinion and based on experience, why Indonesia Doctor and Medical have to choose total anesthesia? because the medical center in each country is differ based on their experience in handling their own country people.

From what I experience, my mom who is mixed between Chinese and Indonesian cannot handle drinking specific type of medication in Singapore and mostly prefer to drink Indonesia medication because it react better with her body. Therefore, I conclude that the probability of Indonesian cannot handle pain better may be the reason that the dentist prefers to have total anesthesia involve to prevent further problem during the surgery as well.

On 2008, I remove 2 of my lower left and right wisdom teeth. Since, there is no so-called mouth surgery kind of dentist like these days. So, I just went to my regular dentist back in Surabaya, Indonesia. He took 1–2 hours time to remove 1 wisdom teeth at the right side. The recovery took me about 8 days. I have to live with chubby right side cheek.

I feel like a completely different person after the surgery because the teeth is no longer there. The no-tightness feeling is what I feel after the surgery. Then next 2 week, I did the left side. The recovery for the left side is much quicker than the right side.

I guess it’s got to do with digging the teeth because it is still growing inside the gum. (advice: search on youtube for the wisdom tooth extraction surgery)

The dentist has to extract the teeth alongside the root too. The dentist will use a dental drill to open up your gum. Then a small knife to cut the gum and dig the wisdom tooth. If your wisdom tooth is way too big ( it happened some wisdom teeth are just bigger than any of your teeth) — then the dentist need to cut it into pieces like 3 pieces then extract it.

If that happened then the recovery may took longer than 4 days, it may be even 8–10 days. You will be given medication to reduce the painful feeling and also mouth gargle to removes all the bacteria so it will recover quickly.

After the extraction, the dentist will seal your gum by sewing it. You will not be allowed to gargle when the surgery is about to perform, so my advice is you need to eat and drink as much as p[ossible and go to the toilet when you arrive at your dentist. Just borrow their toilet will do. You won’t want to go to the toilet in the middle of the surgery. It took about a maximum of 2 hours for just 1 single tooth.

Then on 2020 during the lockdown I have the upper teeth left and right remove in 24 hours. I did it tonight and I done it again the next morning because I know how painful I will suffer if I have to waitr till next week. Also it is because the dentist to perform this type of surgery is only 1 in this hospital. I won’t want any regular dentist to perform it since they won’t have much experience in performing those type of critical surgery.

How was the extraction in the age of 31 years old?

The right side is bleeding but the extraction took only less than 20 minutes because the teeth is popping it head already. This teeth cause my right jaw very painful like there is sharp needly crushing into my teeth to my inner gum.

The left side took longer like an hour because it is still inside the gum and the dentist need to dig it out. Yes! drill and cut my gum. The left side is not suffering from any painful but I decided to just extract it out since I need to set my braces afterwards and I don’t want it grow when I put on my braces or after my braces. That will makes me spend couple of bucks again just to get my teeth align. Meaning to say, the braces is useless because the teeth is back again, crocked.

I have problem with my lower jaw underdevelop that’s why I decided to just put on braces since it is lockdown time. I got lots of time to care of my apperance now.

The total recovery took me about 10 days. Upper area is not as fussy as lower area yet still if the dentist dig and cut then the recovery will took longer time.

How to eat and brush teeth when both side is extracted?

This is what I recommend you to eat as my experience. Just so you know, you may not available to use them all of your teeth to chew because it will hit the surgery part

1. Porridge — heat it at a mild level and eat it at a normal temperature. You can also use sausage or chicken that you have cut off in very small pieces.

2. Soup such as chicken Soto (Indonesian local food)

3. Fish — boiled fish is better than fried fish but if your mom or cooker in your house cook fried fish then avoid the fried part. Fish is easy to digest and also it won’t make you suffer from food stuck

4. Bread — cut your bread in small pieces by using your hand. Then swallow it.

5. Cereal with milk (need to make sure that it is softened after you mix it with milk
6. All liquid, avoid hot liquid, or else it won’t heal.

1. Avoid using mint flavor tooth paste

2. NO MOUTH WASH for temporary

3. Avoid brushing too deep in mouth

4. Gargle your mouth using a drinking cold water only. For those of you who have access to clean water, you can use just that.

You can only eat soft food and cold liquid only. Avoid all hot meals and drinks. Also, not using your teeth to crunch the meal yet until you feel it is already recovering.

WHAT ELSE?

“To be honest, among all my dental experience — I have experience in root canal and braces. Wisdom teeth is the most painful and fussy experience. So I recommend you to extract it in one go, if you have a high immunity and fast recovery body, also you can stand any kind of painful then yes, extract it in one-go but if you don’t then you can choose to do the surgery one side — such as left side upper and lower wisdom teeth but again, if you don’t have it at all. Then extract it one by one. The cost will be higher.”
