Hello lovelies, welcome back to another skincare review. Today article will be about THE ORDINARY SKINCARE NIACINAMIDE 105 + ZINC 1%. The reason is that I often found out this ingredient in many skincare products. Therefore, I decide to try it on alone, and it happened that THE ORDINARY provide it.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml (US$ 9.80) High-Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula Source: The Ordinary Skincare

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is indicated to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. A high 10% concentration of this vitamin is supported in the formula by zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid to balance visible aspects of sebum activity.

Contraindications: If topical Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid and/or Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid) is used as part of skincare, it should be applied at alternate times with this formula (ideally Vitamin C in the PM and this formula in the AM). Otherwise, Niacinamide can affect integrity of the Vitamin C.

Notes: While Niacinamide and Zinc PCA reduce the look of blemishes and balance visible sebum activity, neither is a treatment for acne. For persistent acne-related conditions, we recommend the use of Benzoyl Peroxide and/or Retinoic Acid. DECIEM doesn’t recommend ongoing use of BHA such as Salicylic Acid for persistent blemishes. For temporary improvement in appearance of blemishes, Salicylic Acid would help. This formulation can be used alongside acne treatments if desired for added visible skin benefits.

Independent studies suggest Niacinamide is also an effective ingredient for brightening skin tone.

REVIEW

I have used this product for about a month, and guess what? This particular ingredients could help skin tone back to the natural tone. If you happened to have a dull skin tone due to UV radiance or outdoor environment, you may want to add this product to your skincare routine. It is not to make your skin lighter than your natural tone but it helps remove dullness and give a natural glow to your skin. No skin breakout occurred during the test. In fact, even now I am rarely adding this product into my routine but, I still use SPF in my skin. The good things is this product does not make your skin dependent on the product.

Right now, I only use the product when I see the dullness appearance around my skin or if I have post acne scar that needs to be treated because the post acne scar is often dark colour. It helps the skin to regenerate back. You may need to know that if you are layering your skin with moisturiser, this particular product may backlash to you and give you skin breakout after you use it once. Therefore, it is advisable that you act smart when adding this product to your skincare routine.

For me, I exchange with one of the moisturizing cream that I use after hydrating cream. For your information, I use 2 hydrating cream and 2 moisturizing creams, with occlusive and face oil. My skin condition is dry, sensitive, prone to acne and irritation. If you are someone who uses only 1 of each cream then I guess, you can try to add this product into the sequence without removing other product, it can be tricky but it helps a lot. Nobody wants a dull skin.
