We are love reading review, even the fact that I am a review provide. I am too still look up for review from other peoples. whenever I wanted to book a hotel or even engage in beauty service. I feel that review will make me know whether or not to engage with business and without any problem. But, seems like the digital world is expanding and information is flying very quickly.
People have the ability to cancel or share their experience online, and most of them may not be good one. Company try to engage with influencers and even freelance to provide with a good review, in this case I called it ‘paid review’ and we read it then we trust it, since we may not spot it, it is look very real. The structure of words seem very trustable, g have you ever NOT in a millions time get bluff by trusting review? Don’t say ‘No’ because even me bluffed by review.
So, I train myself to spot fake review online. Below will be several sign that I share with you on it.
SIGNATURE OF FAKE REVIEW
REAL PEOPLE?
INFLUENCER REVIEW
Real people that have a bunch of photo on their social media, this may be an influencer. Should you trust their review? depend if they are disclosing everything, you are fine but if they are not, then you may tilt your head and move.
How to spot? See the caption and the way they take picture. It may be pretty but if it is real, they will explain without any kind of marketing words like you see in the magazine. For example:
“I am in love with this product after 2 weeks of using it, and I can see that my black spot is starting to fade away. As you know in my previous stories a long time ago. The spot is there and I found this product on the shelf of xx store. I try it out, pay the products (probably shown receipt) and use it for 12 times already” brand tag may be placed here or they just mentioned the brand without the tag.
look at the word: they specify the times they use in a thorough manner. Some brands may ask an influencer to try out the product by sending the sample and if the influencer has a positive response, the campaign is ongoing. This is alright yet proceeded with cautious by seeing which kind of products/service that you engage. For example, beauty service will vary from person to person, yet booking a hotel or airlines the experience may be similar.
While fake review probably goes on like this:
“Love this product much and sharing with you guys to check out (Insert IG page of the brand). the product has shown the result in my skin, and I feel that I can rely upon this product whenever I feel that the black spot comes into appearance. It also has benefit blah blah blah… Check their page here” probably disclosing that this is AD.
Not all influencer will give a fake review, some will disclose it and let you decide. Some influencer is very picky to which brands they want to engage and if they engage, they will be asking for a few samples before proceedings.
The problem is with the brands, they are somewhat pushing influencer to promote right when they receive the products, didn’t give times for influencer to test the product. This has happened to me before, and I refuse to try the product, I sent the product back.
FREELANCE REVIEW
Business like to engage with freelancer to provide good review and you may not able to spot it, yet some review are so easy to just see.
“Love the hotel much. It is so cosy, the staff hotel also…
They provide marketing words, without any bad experience.
Real people will have a thorough review since they got time to sit down and type. While freelancer has short and not through review since after they are done writing, they get the money.
Google will be the platform that you can compare of honest and fake review. Since, it is also open for public in general. While facebook is the bias platform of them all because while we write negative review about our experience, and some of us get sued by that action.
Reddit is the platform in the form of forum where you can discuss and give comment about business and it is free platform since we are not connected directly to the business. While facebook page is created by the business.
