As someone with dry, dehydrated, sensitive and acne prone skin. I am always in the lookout of a perfect hydrating cream and to get the perfect product for my own skin. I would like my hydrating cream to have a perfect balance of hydration which I prefer to be light texture with heavy hydration that will penetrate and sustain longer in my skin pores till the next morning. For the texture of the cream, I would love it to be rich and creamy rather than gel texture because gel texture only suitable for normal, combination to oily skin and thus with acne bump that wanted to have hydration since their skin is dry since because of acne treatment.

I do respect KIEHL as a famous brand in many skincare junkies eyes, lots of positive review for this particular cream but for me who happened to have sensitive skin. This cream alone could not deliver the hydration that my skin needed, it is way too light for my preference and the hydration cover by 70%. Hydration skincare function is to replace water retention in our skin.

For those who have dry and dehydrated skin, the water retention is lower than normal to other type of skin, especially when the skin owner have habit of drinking coffee regularly and smoking. The skin will be so dry and dehydrated, and if the owner doesn’t take care of her skin then the common things will occur is wrinkles in early age.

Have you ever saw people with really good skin even when she reached 40 years old? her skin still soft like a baby. Not a celebrity. Many Korean, Chinese and Japanese have really good skin. Their skincare brand always focuses on hydration skincare. Their beauty brand always promotes facial essence, moisturizer, and hydration. The Korean beauty industry even develops glass skin terms on the internet to encourage people to look younger than their actual age.

Some other collagen beauty brand has promote their benefit to consume collagen. The collagen has come in many different type including something like energy drink in a bottle. Remember? Konihimitsu brand? But more info about the effectiveness of collagen drink will be discussed on the next article. If you want to know more about collagen before consuming. WHAT IS SKIN SHIELD?

Since I am gonna use this term quite often, I might as well explain to you. Skin shield happened when you use skincare in your face. skincare work to solve your skin issues. It work like when you drink vitamin to boost your immune system. So, skincare work tp protect your skin from radical environment, some of them even work as medicine to solve our skin problem.

For example: if you have acne, you use acne cream.

For dry skin people, their skin pores are not protected because the skin is so slow to produce natural oil and therefore needed any type of skincare such as sheetmask, facial essence, face cream and others skincare. These skincare will then replace instantly the natural oil. Natural oil is use to protect the skin from aging and wrinkle. For oily skin people, they are opposite of dry skin. The skin produces oil faster and then blocked the entire skin.

The perfect skincare for hydration especially essence and face hydrating cream will penetrate into the papillary layer then create a skin shield which is a barrier to the skin. Layering skin using essence, sheet mask, and face cream will build the barrier that prevents skin from dehydration and suffering from dryness.

The dryness could possible occur even if your skin is not dry. It could occur because of hot weather, sun exposure could cause your skin to dehydrated while exposing your skin to air conditioning could make your skin dry. Not-so-good skincare will just happen stuck in the epidermis — skin pores and even causing your skin to feel oily and greasy.

People are often mistaken that the alcohol in skin care products will cause irritation or skin dryness. The alcohol in skincare is used to make the skincare dry quicker without having to wait for a long hour before you use the next skincare. Yet, some people avoid this type of skincare because alcohol drying the skincare in the skin before it even penetrates into the skin deep layer. So somehow if you bought skincare products and you don’t feel any benefit after a couple of months then it might be because of these particular ingredients. Even for ‘perfume’ in the ingredients list, this particular ingredient is to cover up the bad smell in skincare. Good skincare will have a strong smell that likes herbal, and it is a common thing for good skincare and it will cost you a lot cheaper. For example, DECIEM-Ordinary will only use that particular ingredient and then packed in a droplet applicator. The smell is very strong. The only good and bad of DECIEM — The Ordinary is some of the products not using additional supporting ingredients and probably that’s the reason that some of us using their products yet find it difficult to continue using or develop some skin problem.

The cream is good to be used for dry skin if you layer it up with 2 additional cream and 2 additional facial essences to cover up the rest of 30% hydration and shield you dry and dehydrated skin. To be used as a standalone cream is not advisable if you want to nurture your skin or you want to create glass looking skin because the cream absorb way too quickly into skin and the hydration will be gone during half of your day.

Yet, this cream can be use if you wear makeup and want it to look dewwy without cakeyness. So, my final thought for this particular hydrating cream: the cream suitable for those who need to wear makeup often and having mild skin dehydration or for those who want to nurture their skin after using acne treatment that causing their skin to dry and losing the water.

For me personally, the hydrating cream doesn’t cause any bumpiness or other type of skin problem but since I live in a humid environment and don’t wear makeup, I still feel the dryness and dehydration in my skin. The shield only protects your skin for 4–6 hours
